Bujjigadu Movie Review

Bujjigadu – 4/10

What is it all about ?

It is a chitti story on Chitti and Bujji. Bujjigaduki Rajni Kanth god-u.

Highlights:

– Prabhas’s characterization: Puri is known and is now noun for designing careless yet interesting character for the protagonist. He lives up to the expectations and this is the biggest highlight in the movie. Prabhas enacted his role very well. It is altogether different style for him and it worked well. He is shown more like Pra-bash, as there are many fights. He tried different steps in songs too. Full marks to Puri and Prabhas.

– Screenplay: Puri, PLAYed with the SCREEN using Prabhas’s character. It is good in the first half and at parts in the second half.

– There are sparkles here and there in the movie.

1) The way Prabhas gets into jail is an interesting idea.

2) When Mohan Babu asks Prabhas, on what he would do if Trisha says I LOVE YOU to Prabhas, he replying that he would kill her is an interesting way of writing.

3) Naming MS Narayana’s role as Prabhas.

4) Dialect of Prabhas.

5) There are interesting usages like Darling, I Love You Saala, Silly Fellow.

6) MS Narayana showed great histrionics in one scene with the emotions of a father.

7) Picturisation of “manassanta chala chala” song is interesting.

8. In the climax, Prabhas asking for the goon who shot Trisha, in exchange of Mohan Babu is good. This elevates his love for her.

9) Ahuthi Prasad character is good. The dialogues written for him using Real Estate nomenclature are interesting.

10) There are some entertaining dialogues like

“parigettatam kanna kotteyyadame easy”,

“tipper lorry, scooter nu gudditey yelaa vuntundo ala vuntundi manam gudditey”

11) Sunil’s comedy is ok.

Lowlights:

– Story: As Puri himself claimed it as a foolish rift between the kids, the story is the main drawback of the film. He tried to pen a chilly dish over childish elements in a childish manner and it resulted in a silly dish. He took everything light. Kids getting separated, after 12 years both trying to get in touch, Prabhas agreeing a murder proposal…etc all donot score marks as a story writer. Puri is becoming POOR In story writing. Remember, he won Nandi Awards as a story writer.

– Ali’s comedy is not good. From Chirutha he is failing to design good character for Ali. He is going on a cheap taste. He needs some PURI-fication of his ideas.

– There are too many routine elements in the film. The way Bujjigadu Made in Chennai, becomes Mad in Hyderabad searching for Trisha, is a bit similar to ‘Manasanta Nuvve’ though it is far better than ‘Bujjigadu’. Mohan Babu’s character has many resemblences with Sri Hari’s character in Dhee. It is becoming too monotonous these days to view similar backdrops.

– The love track between the lead pair should have been taken much care. Trisha, initially misunderstanding Bujjigadu as boochi gadu and later developing soft corner for him looks routine.

– Songs: Though the songs are in different style, it is very difficult to differentiate them. They do not go well with mass audience.

– The starting 15 to 20 minutes of the film is horrible. With fullish, foolish things on kids, the irritation that MS Narayana puts to neighbours gets transferred to our minds. The first song is also not good. Only after Prabhas gets into Vizag, the film becomes watchable.

– Mohan Babu’s character has nothing note(currency)-worthy. This character didn’t stick him well similar to his beard that didn’t stick well to his face. Drinking tea in serious situations, uttering english dialogues didn’t work well.

– The reason that Mohan Babu puts infront of Prabhas, urging him not to reveal his identity to Trisha, is also unconvincing.

Final Touch:

The story standards are deteriorating day by day in commercial films. Don’t know if it is Puri’s over confidence or confidence over himself or confidence over(finished) state. Interestingly what all are the doubts that arise in the public Puri has shown them himself and tried to escape cleverly. This shows that he was aware of all the loop holes in the script yet went ahead with them. It seems he is not finding enough time for story development and there is enormous pressure on him to start and finish films briskly. These sort of stories can be written by anyone but only top directors like him can get producers. Puri is doing wonders with Hero’s characterisation and he should reach such levels in story writing too.

‘Re’-'view’ing can be done by fans, only for Prabhas’s character.
