AV: Hi Chaitanya, firstly can you tell us something about your background ?

KC: Hi all. Well I’m from a middle class family of Krishna district, eldest of 2 sons of Sri. Markaandeyulu garu and Gowri garu. I’m from a village by name Yakamuru near vuyyuru. I am lucky I had exposure of village atmosphere with good convent education. I used to work near our cattle when the ‘paleru ‘bunks - removing the dung , chopping ‘pillimisara’, ‘cheruku davva’ and bringing them in bundles on cycle for the cattle. Its only when after I entered MBBS my parents kept me away from the cattle work. On the other hand I had a regular and good convent education where my telugu teacher Sri Rajeswari devigaru encouraged me to write telugu stories and kavithalu.

That is why I consider myself to have a lucky back ground which helps me to enjoy ” the taste of vulava charu megada perugu , thati kaya ballu, cheruku chelu, toonegalu on one side ….Yandamuri,Robin cook novels, medicine education on other side.”

Later I had to go to residential education for my +2 in vikas [Guntur] , long-term in srichaitanya[vijayawada] …luckily I made up to govt seat in Rangaraya medical college [kakinada].my parents were too strict. I used to meet my friends in holidays only when i go to drop milk can to the school where I studied. I watched my first second show movie in my sr.inter.

Once I was in Rangaraya Medical College Kakinada there was much scope for me to be free, even my creative skills and thoughts got recognized there in the college auditorium. I used to write script and direct skits which got best prize every year. Even today Rangarayans remember my name not as a good student but as a creative person.

Presently I am doing my second year M.D. in radiology in Kasturba medical college Mangalore.

AV: That sounds ineresting. So how did IDIOTS happen? Itz a strange and unique name for a community with a positive purpose? How did you arrive at this title? What other titles did you think of?

SVKC: IDIOTs stand for “Innovative Directors In Our Tolywud.”

There is a short story behind the name it was my final year MBBS when “Amma Nanna Oka Tamil Ammayi” movie was released. Post release there was an interview of actor Prakash raj in 24 frames of Gemini television. He was praising film director puri jagannath for his energy, writing skills and direction skills.

I got inspired in a big way, I motivated myself that I should make movies and even my name should be taken in 24 frames program. Following that, I happened to get the yahoo id of puri jagannath garu and I wanted to mail him. I did not know how to start, then I started it like this - Dear idiot [innov director in our tolywud]. Idiot happens to be his movie name as all know. So I used it.

When I wanted to start a community for people interested in direction and writing skills I used the same ‘idiot”. No other titles came to my mind.

AV: That seems to be a solid background. What is the vision, motto of IDIOTS?

SVKC: Movie is a separate field like any other, for people like me its hard to get direct knowledge about the field and we cannot go to film institutes as many of us are in jobs or still studying.

1) “IDIOTs” helps as a platform to share knowledge about various branches of cinema.

2) It builds a space where like minded guys can work on a common script.

3) It is a place where we update the information about upcoming workshops and competitions related to movie and ads.

4) It is a place where people encourage and boost up fellow wannabes.

5) It is a place we dissect a movie, discuss the style of directors.

6) Motto is to be an IDIOT…..its individual ambition and a common motto of every person over here.

7) There is a line which I always think of :

“There is nothing more common in the world than unsuccessful men with talent “

I don’t want to be one among and I don’t want my ‘idiots” to be so.

AV: Cool. What do you think are the reasons for the success of the community?

SVKC: The uniqueness of the motto, title, quality of members joining the community, regular and good moderation.

I and few active members of the community will come up with a new interesting thread when ever there is a drop in the activity in the community / when ever the unwanted stuff is getting paid much attention.

AV: It is strange to see a Doctor interested in such creative fields. How do you justify that ?

SVKC: I’m doctor by my parents choice and into creative works by my choice. I worked hard to fulfill my parent’s dreams and will work even more to achieve what my heart wishes. No profession is an exception to be creative….in my medical college I had a bunch of people with extraordinary creative skills. Now some of them are doing post graduation in good branches like orthopedics and pediatrics in Andhra medical college Vizag.

AV: What sort of problems did/do you face in managing it? Are there any instances which troubled you?

SVKC: Yes of course when ever there is anything against my philosophy I feel uncomfortable. I follow a line

“it’s not necessary to be busy, even ants are busy. The question is what u are busy about”…

I mean I don’t like my guys posting what ever ….what ever posted should carry meaning and purpose. I delete the crap if I think it so …and it obviously hurts the members posted that. Some times I find hard to have some time for my community especially when I have night duties and seminars in the hospital.

I did not have a PC until 1 yr back, I used to go to net café and moderate my community for a year and half.

AV: Oh is it ??? Did you at any point of time thought of deleting the community?

SVKC: Never…..But when I thought its disturbing me {academically} a lot and has became a burden I handed over the community to some safe hands in my community and was a away from it. But its only for a month I could not be away from it.

AV: What is your favorite thread/topic?

SVKC: Many, in fact to name a thread titled “how many of u are interested in direction “ started by an anonymous buddy ran over months it is fav thread for many in the community.

Other thread where I asked my members to come up with AD themes showed the potential and caliber of our guys.

AV: Where do you see yourself and IDIOTS after 5 years from now?

SVKC: Well after 5 yrs I shall just be a beginner in the film world writing some good scripts with some of my idiots as my team mates. IDIOTS will prove by then and will make a name to itself.

AV: Who are your favorite directors, writers and why ?

SVKC: There are many directors to name Raj kumar santoshi, Nagesh kuknoor, Sekhar Kammula , Chandra sekhar yeleti ,Puri jagannath, krishna vamsi, Rajamouli ,Vinayak and many more.

Writers – Puri jagannath , Trivikram Srinivas, Yandamuri garu

Lyric writers – Sri Sirivennela , Chandra bose and Chaitanya Prasad.

AV: Your opinion on Telugu Film Industry about lifting stories from Hollywood in films.

SVKC: It is going great , young new talent are getting opportunities and its no less to any other film industry in India.

Nothing wrong in getting inspired with Hollywood film stories if they can be handled and modified to taste of our people. it gives telugu audience who doesn’t watch Hollywood flicks a chance to watch a telugu version of it.

AV: Given a chance are you ready to direct a film?

SVKC: No I am not ready to direct a film right now .given a chance I can provide script to a movie. I prepared raw scripts for 3 to 4 movies.

AV: Did you meet any celebrities? Did you make any trails for chances?

SVKC: Once when I was working as duty medical officer at image hospitals, S.S.Rajamouli came there to picturise some scenes of film vikramarkudu, I approached him saying that I have a script which suits NTR/Prabas, he told to approach his associate, I did so, after few days the later said sorry as they are not interested in outside scripts as they have a great writer vijayendra Prasad father of rajamouli garu with them which is true. After that I never approached any one.infact it did not happen.

AV: Tell us something about the guys whom you came to know through Orkut especially IDIOTS.

SVKC: Many thanks to my idea of IDIOTS …it got me many friends and some talented guys.

Srinivasa Mouli an upcoming lyricist is close to my heart,

Ashock – The interviewer, i discussed and commented on mutual scripts for hours together with this truly energetic guy and upcoming dialog writer.

Kiran – Popularly known as “NACHAKI” of telugucinema.com is a guide for all of us.

Sarathchandra – An U.S. based director aspirant is a great boost for me and IDIOTS as he had some direct experience as an assistant director in the past.

Srinu and Ravi.vide – Guys who are already proving themselves as short film makers in Hyderabad.

Sashank and Sharmila - My moderators, who look after my community and are a great help to me.

Vishwanath – an enthusiastic story writer.

And many more …

AV: Its been close to 2 years that IDIOTS took its birth yet its strength is just 250. Why is it so?

SVKC: Infact I’m the reason I would have rejected at least 500 requests , as I have decided to join only the guys who at least appear to have some stuff in them. Did not want teenagers to join this community.I believe in the line
” Mandhi ekkuvaythey majjiga palachana”

AV: Don’t you think Internet-Orkut are also serious addictions to be taken care of?

SVKC: Yes obviously , if not taken care of they kill the talent , innovative nature in the young brains. I want to say a line which I wrote in telugu years back:

“Kurraallu – saana pedithey vajraalu
peda maargana padithey utha raallu”

AV: How do you feel on getting interviewed ? Did you expect it at this point of time ?

SVKC: Years back I read about the art of interviewing and how to face an interview in my social preventive medicine now its true experience, I am feeling nice get interviewed thank you.

My dream is to get interviewed in 24 Frames program of Gemini TV…when I get that value I may get the honor.
