Ready – Movie Review
Ready – 8/10
What is it all about ?
One hero-one heroine-three families and ready steady comedy.
Highlights:
– Second half’s Second half: This is the biggest highlight of the film. The trio ‘Kona Venkat-Gopi Mohan-Sreenu Vytla’ succeeds in generating a laugh riot. Those who liked ‘Dhee’ and ‘Venky’ for its first half, comedy would love this fast half of second half.
– Story: It has too many shades of many films like Bhadra, Gudumba Shankar, Aata, Ninne Pelladatha, DDLJ…still it comes out afresh. Till now we have seen tales of hero-heroines struggling to convince one/two families. This story targets three families and succeeds in executing it.
– Screenplay: It has some interesting elements in the first half and is very tight and right in the second half.
– Dialogues: In addition to the story and screenplay, dialogues help the pace and fill the space effectively. Kona VENKAT has mastered the art of knowing WHEN to CUT a joke.
– This film has huge cast and cost. There are numerous, humorous artists in the film and all of them have been utilised very well.
- Brahmi as McDowell Murthy once again steals the show and acts as the Steel Quota(kanchu kota) of the film. His character is the turning point. He has shown great histronics where in he starts becoming full time bakra. It is difficult to control smile on the final punch on Brahmi where in the movie ends.
- Jaya Prakash ‘Ready’ has much footage and has delivered some very good punches.
- MS Narayana’s role in the first half is a great relief.
- Dharmavarapu Subramanyam is good as Happy Reddy.
- Srinivas Reddy is ok in ‘Raju GAARU’, Sreenu Vytla mark role.
- Sunil is fine in ‘Sagara Sangamam’ parody.
- Surekha’s role as an intelli-lady scolding Jaya Prakash Reddy on the pretext of doing it on her son is too good.
– Songs:
- ‘Get Ready’ is terrific and ‘Tu Tu Tu’ is impressive. These are instant winners.
- Remaining songs look good in visuals.
- Choreography is very good in all the songs.
- Ram’s ease in dances is noteworthy. He is superb in songs.
- Devi Sri Prasad succeeds in giving the right music and BGM for a Sreenu Vytla’s film and this combo works once again.
– The following ideas are interesting:
- The hiccups idea as a secret code between Ram and Genelia.
- The scene in which all family heads talk to their wives over phone.
- MS Narayana – Genelia – Dog scene.
- DVS Karna ringtone of Ram.
– Ram is good at showing ease and Genelia at tease. The love track between them draws interest.
– There are some fine dialogues in the film:
- Ram: nenu teesukelli pelli chesukovalanukoledu, pelli chesukoni teesukellalanukunnanu.
- Ram: mosam cheste tappukaanee, manage cheste tappu kaadu.
- Ram: poyaraa ? vunnaraa ?
Genelia: poyela vunnanu.
- Nassar: mee bharyalanu yelaa pilustaaru ?
The answer that Jaya Prakash Reddy gives brings down the house. The timing in this dialogue is awesome.
- Marriage Broker: manishi white, money black.
– Brahmi: veedi papalaku nenu poyettunnanu.
Lowlights:
– First half of the film is a big let down when compared to the second half. It looks pretty ordinary film till the interval. It should have been made better.
– The getups of the villain families looked very odd and bad. But the way they have been used in comic sense and altered in the movie brought good relief in audience’s ambience.
– Brahmi’s role reminds ‘Bangaram-Singaram’ track of Kota in ‘Vinodam’.
Plugins:
Sreenu Vytla’s team extracted good comedy from decent screenplay. It is surprising to see that there was still scope for more punches.
For eg:
When Kota visits hospital along with Brahmi, Ram to meet Supreet, the Sardarji kind of joke – ‘Standing on an oxygen tube’ would have spilled good humor.
Final Touch:
Sreenu Vytla and Co., succeed in meeting the expectations of ‘Re-Dhee’ act. The film loots our hearts when the second half boots. First half LACKS punch on the whole and second half has LAKHS(too many) of punches.
Too much mixing of many films brought a brand new product. It is like an Andhra Pickle = PICKed scenes + chuckLE.
Re-viewing is the case with many for the second half. It might be a true successor to the ‘Venky’ film which was one of the most repeatedly watched films over VCD.
