Baladoor – Movie Review

Baladoor – 6/10

Menu:

Cast: Ravi Teja, Anushka
Dialogues: Lakshmi Bhoopal, Sudhakar
Music Director: K.M.Radha Krishnan
Director: Uday Shankar
Producer: Suresh Productions, D. Suresh Babu

Soup/Starters:

After the stupendous success of ‘Krishna’ this time Ravi Teja comes up with super star ‘Krishna’ in a family entertainer. Ravi Teja is known for his ease in acting and unique dialogue delivery. His energy gives life to his characters. He did well on his part, especially in the first half. Second half didn’t work out well. On the whole it is an average – above average film.

Its all about a care free guy in a nice family who takes all responsibilities on his shoulders and sorts out problems. Its a Ravi Teja version of a typical Venkatesh film.

Spicy Items:

– First half is the saving grace for the film. Ravi Teja’s ease and some creative fast paced scenes helped it to sail safely.

– Anushka is damn hot. She did a meaty role with substance. Her glamour checks murmur in the hall.

– Dialogues in the first half are excellent. Very good work by Lakshmi Bhoopal and Sudhakar. But on contrary second half dialogues go unnoticed. It seems they are comfortable only with comedy scenes.
Eg:
-
Raviteja: mandaa ?
Sunil: rey manadaa ? pakkodidaa ? annadi soodakoodaduraa
idi andari drustilo water kaani naaku maatram quarter.
-
Ravi Teja(with Satya Raj) : okkadinaina kottamannav…ye okkadinee vadalakundaa kodataa.
-
Sunil: idi yekkuvayyindiraa
Ravi Teja: neekkaavalsindi teesko
-
Ravi Teja: Pedanaanna, vaadu rechchi potunnaadu…
Krishna: kaadu rechchagodutunnaadu.
-
Sunil (pointing to Anushka): yekkada pattav raa ? daarlonaa barlonaa ?
-
Chandramohan: neeku body perigindi kaani brain peragaledu raa
Ravi Teja: meeku adi koodaa peragaledu kadaa.
-
Ravi Teja (with Pradeep Rawat) : osey Uma…nuvvu navvapitey…nen navvukuntaaney…atleast eelesukuntaaney…
-
Ravi Teja: urgent gaa yellaaliraa…class ku time ayyindi.
Friend: neeku class teesukune devarraa ?
Ravi Teja: maa babu
-
Aahuti Prasad: vayasulo vundi kadaa, daani manasulo yevaranna vunnaremo kanukko. pelli cheseyyaali.
His wife: ante ichchi chesestaara ?
Aahuti Prasad: ledu teesestaanu.
-
Sunil (with passengers in train) : telisi koorchunnaaraa ? balisi koorchunnaaraa ?
-
Brahmi: yevaranna mandu taagi stuff tintaaru, taneymitee stuff tini mandu taagutondi ?
-
Brahmi: aitey ikkedey settle aipoddaa ?
Sunil: settle aitey shuttle aadestaadi…
-
Sunil: tanu yekkalsina train ide raa
Ravi Teja: digaalsina train kooda ide ahey
-
Pujari: adavaallu bhartaku yedama pakkane koorchovaali…
someone: yenduko ?
Sunil: shirtku pocket leftlo vuntundani..
Krishna: nee moham, manishiki gunde yedama pakkana vuntundi…so alaa yeppudu bharya bharta gundeto samanam ani left side ye koorchovaali.

Music by K.M.Radha Krishnan is interesting. Its different music from him.
-
Mass songs,
1) Toda…tedaa
2) Ok…ok
are very good.
-
Rain song and first song are ok.

– Ravi Teja’s introduction, hero-heroine’s love track, Brahmi’s comedy track are ok.

Dry Items:

– Story is the main culprit. Its becoming too common to see Ravi Teja as a reckless guy and always getting bumps from his father. This story just added Venkatesh’s flavor to his routine style. Second half goes on a very high predictable note.

Misunderstanding of hero by family members, amateurish deeds of siblings, elevation of hero’s sacrifice by supporting characters, hero taking a blame on himself to save family’s prestige…almost all such scenes in this film have already been covered long back by Venkatesh.

– Some dialogues and scenes on Anushka have overdose of mass elements. Family audience may be uncomfortable with such scenes.

– Music:
- First song has shades of ‘chinnaga chinnaga’ song in Tagore.
- Rain song has shades of the beats in ‘Bhimavaram bullodaa’ song in Gharana Bullodu.
- Two songs which aren’t discussed are mediocre.
– Its interesting to see Anchor Gayatri Bhargavi getting into films. But her character is like a carrom board coin. When ever the striker (director) desired he played with it to create, complicate, resolve a problem.
– Raja Ravindra and Saleem’s characters have been left at the end. It hasn’t been shown on what the hero does to reform them.

Finger Bowl:

First half gives the feel – ‘Baladoor…veediki balupekkuva’ and second half – ‘Baladoor…veediki badhalekkuva’. By interval, it seems to be ‘Bhala(Telugu, good in English) from dooor (Hindi, distance in English) but as the film gets fully into the story it seems to be ‘Baalaa(Telugu, bad in English) from near’.

Best part of the film is racy narration and good energy shown by Ravi Teja and Anushka. Added to these there are family elements who might touch the target audience for this film. On the whole it might result as a minimum guarantee film.

Re-Viewing is the case with the first half on VCD.
