Black and White - 4.5/10
Menu:
Cast: Rajeev Kanakala, Sindhu Tulani, Jackie Shroff, Uttej
Music Director: Vijay Kurakula
Director: Sreekanth Vemulapalli
Banner: UK Avenue - Uday Shankar
Soup/Starters: Rajeev Kanakala has now become a solo hero. This film brought some attentions as Rajeev’s ‘A Film By Aravind’ was a success.
Rajeev, Uttej are orphans. Rajeev settles well in life with a decent Software Engineer job. Uttej is a great friend of him. Rajeev falls in love with Sindhu Tulani and they get married. All of a sudden someone start attacking Rajeev. He escapes narrowly in the first one and in the second one Uttej gets injured. Police trace that his car’s presence at the bomb blast location. The rest of the film is all about determining whether Rajeev is a innocent guy or a terrorist ?
Spicy Items:
– Story-Screenplay: The story is interesting and has many twists which pulls audience interest. All the points ignored in the first half gain importance after interval. It is a well written screenplay altogether.
– BGM, which is Vijay’s forte is good.
– Some interesting ideas/dialgoues:
- Uttej: nuvvu anadhala feel avutaavemo kaani, nenu matram yeppudu feel avvaledu raa. naaku nuvvu vunnav.
- Jackie Shroff: intaku mundu dongalu badina aarunelalaku, ippudu complaint ivvakundaane, ikamundu incident jaragakamunde vachchestaam.
Dry Items:
– Story: The film has heavy shades of ‘Fanaa’.
– First half is sloppy. The love track of Rajeev and Sindhu is pretty normal. Many scenes lack novelty and thus result in boredom.
– Performances: Surprisingly it has offered nothing new to all lead actors. They had nothing special to do. Even natural actor like Rajeev looked pale in many scenes.
– Lack of entertaining elements is the main drawback.
– Songs, Dialogues are mediocre.
Final Touch:
It is an impressive debute for Srikanth Vemulapalli. This film is not a big shake but has some substance. The film is tight in the second half and works well with the twists.
There are no strong points that pull audience to the theatres. It can be watched on leisure over a VCD.
On the whole, Black and White with some interesting Block(s) and Weight(s).
