Business Idea: Free Advice to Telecom Service Providers
Remember this idea in some films ?:
A Tooth Paste company is seriously thinking of increasing their sales then pat comes the idea from the protagonist:
Increase the width of the Tooth paste tube opening slightly. People would not notice it and when ever they use the paste more quantity pops and thus the paste would be finished in less number of days. The people who got used to our paste will certainly stick to ours and buy a new one.
This will surely enhance the sales.
Its an interesting idea in deed.
Now the point is applying the same principle to Mobile Phones.
Its a free advice to Telecom Service Providers like AirTel, Vodafone…
Its known that calls are charged per minute. For example if the call rate is 1 Rupee for Minute, then for the call duration of 2:59, 3 Rupees would be charged. If it is 3:00 then 4 Rupees would be charged. How would it be if the service providers technically manage to jump a call at the edge ? That is if the 59th second in a minute is crossed then turn the next second when just half of it elapses. This way 1 minute in reality would be equal to 59.5 Seconds. The idea is to cash on the rounded number as no where decimal points are indicated and even in bills call duration is shown to the precision of seconds and not milli seconds.
Customer would not be at heavy loss because even for long duration calls say 1 Hour, he would be cheated of 30 Seconds which still charges him an extra unit say 1 Rupee. If he has to be billed for 60 Rupees he would be charged at 61 Rupees. This logic shouldn’t be extended to STD/Roaming charges as it would be an exploitation of customers.
The crux of the idea lies in the number of calls that exactly end at the end of a minute. Lakhs of calls would be ending at the 60th second. Such an idea helps in pulling good revenue from customers without troubling them much.
This is indeed cheating. Now a days Everything is fair in Mobile business. We are used to get exploited by uninformed charges…etc when compared to them this is not a big offense. It can generate huge income for the Telecom Operators.
