Sekhar Kammula who has made his mark in Telugu Film Industry with his films Dollar Dreams, Anand, Godavari, Happy Days hasn’t yet come up with his next directorial venture. There are huge expectations and obvious pressure on him that he is unable to decide on the script to take up. Mean while he okayed the script of Anish Kuruvilla, a passionate film maker who has been assisting Sekhar in his productions.
Anish was depressed, frustrated on seeing the proceedings in Telugu Film Industry during the making of Godavari. He made a bold film “Confessions of a Film Maker”(COAFM) (Blog, YouTube Profile)which criticizes many aspects in the industry. It was released online. It was a big sensation. Anish received severe criticism for his act. It is heard that ace film makers like Gunnam Gangaraju told Anish not to show his face again to them. On the otherside, he also got some huge applause from a section of audience. Kamal Kamaraju who played a key role in Godavari was the only actor in the COAFM.
After the huge success of ‘Happy Days’, Anish regained his momentum and turned optimistic. He finished his script ‘Avakai Biryani’ and Sekhar readily agreed to produce it. Right from the title to the posters, trailers this film is getting good response. Anish is handling story-screenplay-Direction departments. This film is all about a 7-Seater Auto Driver and a Village Girl who sells pickles.
Here is a personal write up of Anish Kuruvilla regarding ‘Avakai Biryani’.
