Story:

Basically, it is a rectangular love story in which three guys fall in a love with the same gal. But what finally mattered was their friendship. Sameer( Abhishek) and Kunal ( John) are seriouslly ( of course individually) searching for a beautiful apartment. Accidentally they get the same address. The land lady rejects them to give the apartment for rent as they are bachelor boys thinking that they make nasty things in the house and corrupt her niece( Piggy chops) . She says the house is only for ‘babies’. They get disappointed and try to quit. But accidentally they get the idea of acting as gays and getting into the apartment as they loved it. So they do eventhough they dont know about each other very well. Then the comedy of errors starts whey they both start loving piggy chops and she starts loving her boss ( Bobby Deol)

Finally, who will sacrifice their love? and how? and who will get her love? is the story. Is friendship superior to love?

Analysis:

We have seen hell lot of movies like this in Indian cinema, but what makes Dostana special is that it promotes a shocking gay-comedy to the Bollywood. Gays are not abnormal now-a-days. We do see many of them in the so called Page3 world.

And even gay concept is not new in Bollywood. Remember Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, Page3, Life in a Metro and the most recent Fashion. When it is portrayed seriously, it does not work. But comedy rules.( Remember Kal Ho Na Ho , Kaanta Ben episode with Saif and Sharukh)

Karan Johar overdosed it in Dostana with loads of fun and laughter.

Miami locations at the start of the moive are awesome spicing with Shilpa Shetty’s item number.

Abhishek has one of the best performances of his career in Dostana. He impressed the audience a lot with his action.

Meanwhile, John impressed with his amazing physique.

Priyanka is hot in the swimsuit and performs superb with her gestures and antiques.

The final episode of the film stuns the audience and make them raise their eyebrow. We have seen heroes in Bollywood sacrifising their love in many ways for friendship. To make their friend’s love a success, some heroes commit suicide, some sacrifise their friendship, some sacrifise property, some sacrifise something which they love most. But……… but……….. you would have never seen heroes lip-locking to make their friend’s love a success.

Music by Vishal Shekar is a big asset to the movie. ‘Jaane kyon dil chaahtaa hain……’, ‘ Desi gal…’ rocks the music charts.

Although Dostana creates sensation, it has a slow narration in the second-half of the movie. Kiron kher’s acceptance of John as her son-in-law, Boman Irani’s crazy gay mentality, Taaare Zameen Par’s impression on Bobby deol’s son is quite boring to the audience a bit.

Finally Dostana is a big treat to the audience to relax and laugh for 3 hours.
