Wake Up Sid – 5/10

There have been many positive reviews about this movie but I didn’t like this movie.

On hearing/reading the basic storyline of the movie, I thought it was a very smart move by the writer to can a movie on this concept. Many applauded the screenplay but I felt that it was not upto the mark.

The movie is all about a filthy rich, young guy Sid, who has no seriousness in life. He just roams around with his friends, parties a lot and knows absolutely nothing than these. Suddenly he meets Konkana and they become good friends. Konkana’s character is exactly the opposite of Sid. She wants to be independent and where as Sid is always dependent. When Sid proposes to her, she rejects softly saying that Sid is still a kid. The film moves on predictable lines and owing to a rift between Sid and his father Sid moves out of his home and stays at Konkana’s place. Slowly he gets into a Photographer job which was earlier his hobby. He gets transformed to a responsible and independent guy and atlast the couple realize the love in them and the movie ends on a happy note.

Music is the biggest highlight of the movie. As always Sankar Ehsaan Loy never disappoint and have done perfect justice. Title song is marvelous. Its a nice film for Ranbir and a cake walk character for Konkana. The neighbour characters of Konkana are etched well.

The main drawback of the movie is, it is higly predictable. Ofcourse, this was infact its USP which made it a hit.

For all the ones who expect a movie to be exciting, creative, unpredictable this movie may not impress. For all the rest you might like it for its simplicity, honesty in living upto the characters and traveling along with them.
